One Day in Monschau
Monschau is a small town, so you shouldn’t expect to have the same sights as in a big city. Of course, cities like Munich, Hamburg or Berlin offer a variety of other hotspots – but that’s exactly what Monschau is all about.
When visiting the cute Eifel village, you come to enjoy the beauty of the city and simply immerse into this very specific culture.
The best things to see & do in Monschau
Rotes Haus Monschau
The „Red House“ is the former headquarters of the Scheibler family and is now a museum. Actually, it is the most famous landmark in Monschau.
However, while the red brick house stands out from the city’s half-timbered houses, its simple exterior gives no indication of the interior.
The museum is decorated in luxurious rococo style furniture and has antique and very valuable pieces of furniture, tapestries and other artifacts.
The absolute highlight of the Red House is the oak staircase, which winds over three floors and is intended to embody the different phases of textile production.

This family-run mustard mill has been making delicious mustard in the same traditional way for over 120 years. It is known for producing 19 types of mustard.
As a visitor you are invited to try and buy mustard, jam, chutneys, liqueurs and even mustard chocolates.
