Munich is not only home to historical sites, pretty squares, fascinating museums, magnificent churches, and rich architectural heritage. But much more one of the most beautiful – and instagrammable – places I’ve ever visited. The best photo spots in Munich
1 – English Gardens
The English gardens of Munich are renowned worldwide and beautiful year-round. Even when it’s cold, you will find surfers here enjoying the cold water and practicing.
It’s perfect for jogging early in the morning, strolling around late in the afternoon or just enjoying the calm of this area located in the heart of Munich.
2 – The Cathedral Church of our Lady from St. Peter’s Church
St. Peter’s church is the oldest church in Munich. It was built by monks and sits atop of Petersburg Hill, providing some of the best views of the city.
You have to climb no less than 299 steps, but once you reach the top, the view will make up for thee effort.

3 – Munich’s Old Town Hall
Built in the 15th century in Gothic style, this building was completely destroyed during World War II and was later restored.
It’s now home to a toy museum, still super beautiful to admire from outside.
4 – Bavarian State Chancellery
You shouldn’t miss on the Bavarian State Chancellery if you love architecture. The building combines both new and old.
The plans for this striking architectural achievement go back to the former Prime Minister, Franz Josef Strauss. The current building was completed in 1993.
5 – Nymphenburg Palace
Nymphenburg Palace is a little bit off the beaten track, but more than worth the short ride with the train.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that there are no visitors, it’s just not directly in the heart of Munich.
6 – Court Garden
The Court Garden is directly connected with the Bavarian State Chancellery and the Munich Residence.
It’s especially popular during summer days, and you will most likely see a lot of people just sitting in the sun and enjoying the warmth on their skin.
It’s the perfect place for slowing down on a busy day.
7 – Feldherrnhalle
The Feldherrnhalle is a classicist loggia at the southern end of Odeonsplatz in the old town in Munich.
It was built from 1841 to 1844 as a memorial to the Bavarian Army.
8 – Angel of peace
This is a beautiful monument that captures your eyes when walking near the Isar river.
9 – Bavarian State Opera
The Bavarian State Opera, founded in 1653 by Princess Henriette Adelaide of Savoy, is considered the oldest opera company north of the Alps.
It seats 2.100 people and has an excellent reputation worldwide.
10 – Theatine Church
The Theatine Church of St. Cajetan was built from 1663 to 1690. Also funded by Henriette Adelaide fo Savoy as a gesture of thanks for the birth of the long-awaited heir to the Bavarian Crown.
But well, besides all that it’s just a really beautiful church, isn’t it?
11 – Legal library Munich
Unfortunately, this shot is really hard to get. You can only visit the library when booking a guided tour. It’s not just freaking beautiful, but still a workplace for students.
You cannot enter the library without a student ID card or a guide.
Secret tip: Munich Residence
As a replacement for the legal library, I recommend the Munich Residence. You need to pay an entrance fee of €10 to visit the Residence, but you will also need 2-3 hours to visit all rooms of the former Bavarian dukes.
The Munich Residence served as the seat of government and residence of the Bavarian dukes, electors and kings from 1508 to 1918. Since 1920, the Residence is a museum open for visitors.
